Foot Reflexology in Mississauga

Welcome to CAAAM!  Having rooted in the beautiful lakeside community in Mississauga for over 10 years, we have always believed overall health is only achieved when you address the needs of the whole body.  That is why we provide you with more than just a regular foot massage.  Foot Reflexology is one of the most popular types of alternative treatments.  Beyond the feel-good effects of a massage, the purpose of Foot Reflexology goes deeper than skin and muscles.  Our Reflexologists treat specific parts of your body by targeting the corresponding reflex points on the foot.  Make an appointment with us to experience the difference!

FAQs About Foot Reflexology

What is Foot Reflexology?

The theory behind Foot Reflexology is that there are “reflex” areas on the feet that correspond to specific organs or parts of the body.  There are more than 7,000 nerve endings in the human foot, and by targeting these nerve endings, Reflexologists can assist the flow of energy through the body to the areas affected by illness or stress.  Our Reflexologists use specific thumb, finger and hand techniques with pressure on the various congested reflex areas.  This holistic approach will optimize blood, lymph and nerve flow to a specific area, thus minimizing pain as well as muscle tension and facilitating the body’s natural healing and detoxifying process.  Foot Reflexology will often hurt when the congested reflex areas are treated.  As the condition improves, so will the soreness on the corresponding reflexes.  Pain on a specific reflex is always brief and only lasts as long as the Reflexologist is applying pressure.  Our well-trained Reflexologists will adapt pressure to the pain levels.

What health conditions can Foot Reflexology help with?

Foot Reflexology increases circulation, reduces inflammation, rebalances hormones, boosts your immune system, improves your sleep, cleanses the body of toxins, and generally boosts energy levels.  It is also beneficial for the relief of stress, tension and anxiety.  We have helped clients with conditions including but not limited to:

  • Arthritis and joint pain
  • Digestive issues
  • Pregnancy, PMS and period pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Muscle aches and pains
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Respiratory health
  • Sleep disorders and insomnia

How is Foot Reflexology different from foot massage?

While foot massage focuses healing in the feet, the purpose of Foot Reflexology is to promote wellness throughout the entire body.  Our Reflexologists use thumb walking to target pressure-points to restore the flow of energy throughout the body.  The treatment usually focuses on the feet, but it can also include the hands and ears.  There are numerous reflex points throughout the feet that, when stimulated, induce healing in other body parts, both internal and external, leading to balance throughout the body.

What do I need to prepare for Foot Reflexology?

Just wear comfortable clothes!  You will be lying on a reclining couch so you will want to feel relaxed.

I am pregnant.  Is Foot Reflexology right for me?

Foot Reflexology is often used to soothe the aches and pains in your back and joints caused by pregnancy.  It helps relieve pregnancy symptoms including lower-back and pelvic pain, morning sickness, heartburn, swelling in the legs (if it’s not due to Preeclampsia), constipation, high blood pressure (if it’s not due to Preeclampsia), insomnia, bladder problems, mild cramping and hemorrhoids.  Foot Reflexology also helps reduce stress, depression and anxiety.  Despite all the benefits, clients are encouraged to consult with us directly via telephone or email if unsure about their conditions.

Is Foot Reflexology equivalent to medical treatment or medication?

No, Reflexologists are not medically trained.  Foot Reflexology can help with certain ailments and conditions once they are diagnosed by medical experts.  It is a complementary health therapy alongside conventional medical treatment or medication.
