A Registered Massage Therapist is the professional designation for a person who has trained and completed competency-based education at educational institutions recognized by the Government of Ontario, in Canada. The regulated health profession known as Massage therapy should be performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). Registered Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, including muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, and joints. It is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use, and many other chronic pain conditions. RMTs are professionally trained to work with a variety of clients in the treatment of illness, injury rehabilitation, and disability. They can assess clients’ conditions and offer personalized care that draws on their training in Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports, Prenatal Massage, etc. RMTs can provide a receipt that will be accepted by clients’ extended health benefits plan for reimbursement (as long as the plan covers massage therapy).
Our therapists are Registered Massage Therapists. They have received extensive training from accredited massage training facilities and are active members in various professional associations.
During your first visit with your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), there will be a consultation of your medical history and a thorough assessment of your current condition or injury. The RMT may ask you to perform some special tests/movements to help determine the severity and cause of your injury. After the initial assessment, the RMT will leave for a few minutes allowing you adequate time to get ready for your massage.
Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are regulated health professionals trained in the assessment and treatment of soft tissues. RMTs registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario have received at least 2200 hours of training, passed comprehensive practical and written exams, adhere to the Regulated Health Professionals Act, and maintain liability insurance.
Whether you are looking to relieve tension with a relaxing massage, or in the need for therapeutic soft-tissue release, or unsure what form of therapy is best suited to your needs, our RMTs can assess your condition and offer personalized care that draws on their training in Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports, Prenatal Massage, etc.
Unlike Physiotherapists who are trained to diagnose and focus on musculoskeletal management, Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) do not belong to a diagnosing profession and are trained to take a more holistic approach.
Massage Therapy is commonly used for muscle relaxation, pain relief, injury prevention, and improving athletic performance. RMTs use various treatment techniques to manipulate muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia, release trigger points, improve circulation, and reduce body structure stiffness. These techniques help to improve overall physical function and alleviate discomfort. In addition to the physical benefits, Massage Therapy has the psychological benefits of reducing stress and anxiety.
Make sure you are clean and free of fragranced personal care products before receiving massage. You may undress to the level you are comfortable or depending on the type of massage you are receiving. Our experienced therapists will give you privacy to undress and get comfortable, and will work around the clothes you left on as best as they can.
Our treatments utilize refined massage techniques to release stress and rejuvenate at the same time
